The Freaking Archive is several things. A collection, identity, portfolio, and yes, of course an archive. The TFA is an always renewing collective portfolio bringing together the projects of Graphic Design students and alumni at ArtEZ Arnhem. For students, it is a way of presenting their first projects as graphic designers. For alumni, it showcases and reflects their development over the course of 4 years, both personally and professionally. For both, it can be a good starting point for their next chapter after GDA, Graphic Design Arnhem.
We (Diane and Jasmijn) noticed the absence of identity as GDA (Graphic Design Arnhem) students within ArtEZ. To change this, we started thinking of a way to show students personalities and identities as a community. We also saw this opportunity to track our growth and development through the curriculum, both personally and professionally. Not only individuals but also as a community within ArtEZ Arnhem. Besides this, we were introduced to coding languages HTML, CSS and JavaScript in the very first year of our journey at GDA. Both of us wanted to build our coding skills, and what is better than doing it? So, during our class Open Lab, we began our TFA journey. So, keep us on your radar for more updates because the TFA is ever evolving!
